Lap-See Lam
(*1990, Stockholm)
The artist Lap-See Lam’s backlit mirror piece in “Stroissmüller” is engraved with patterns from 3D scans of visitors in familiar chinese restaurants, where bypassers created the ”lines" of movement. Using virtual reality, sound and sculpture, her art deals with the narratives of urban spaces, family mythology, and belonging.
She often recreates moments or interiors via private memories of the Cantonese diaspora in Sweden, and recently showed a poetic installation at Galerie Nordenhake in Stockholm.
Previous exhibitions include: Performa 19, New York; “Metamorphosis”, Fondation Cartier, 2019; “Tidal Ground”, Luleå Biennal, 2018; and “Mothers Tongue”, Moderna Museet, Stockholm, 2018.
